San Francisco

PACIFIC

The City by the bay

San Francisco is the home of America’s first craft brewery, and its beer brewing history dates back even further than the city itself. Today, SF’s beer scene is exploding, with the opening of innovative small-batch breweries and several long-running microbreweries, all changing the way people taste, talk about, and think about beer citywide.

Seasonal

Seasonal Beers

A seasonal beer is a beer that is typically brewed during or for a particular season, holiday or festival period. Many breweries and microbreweries produce seasonal beers. Seasonal beers may be produced when fresh ingredients are available during various seasons, per climatic conditions during the time of the year, and also as a tradition such as holidays, festivals and events. Check out the website of your favorite brewery to see what seasonal beers are on tap.

Anchor Brewing Company

No list of San Francisco’s breweries would be complete without mention of Anchor. Since 1896, Anchor has been brewing craft beer throughout the city (they moved around due to fires, earthquakes, and Prohibition). Anchor finally settled into its current brewhouse in Potrero Hill in 1977. Stop by the beer garden to sip on these historic brews, but take the tour to get the full rundown of the history, the beers, and the brewing process.
